After twelve years The Mynah Bird
Home Page has been
hacked.
Our website has been tampered with by a hacker who changed all of the links; not just the main page index, but on every page. We will be working to get the web site going again but due to circumstances and other things that require our time, we cannot give a specific date on when the website will be back. |

History
of the Mynah
Bird Home
Page
The Mynah
Bird Home Page
began in
April of 1996.
The first web site on the internet dedicated to Mynah Birds After the loss of their first pet mynah, Rick and Kathy Butterfield searched for another and soon discovered that mynahs were not being found in pet stores. In 1996, soon after the internet came to be, Rick discovered a bird breeder located in California who directed them to a mynah breeder in Florida with hand fed babies available. Soon after, Rick and Kathy were picking up their new baby Greater Indian Hill mynah at the airport. The loss of their first mynah was due to iron storage disease. Rick and Kathy wanted to make a difference by making others aware of this disease and how it affects softbills. There wasn't much information available on mynahs and how to care for them. With the assistance of Howard's breeder and others, they soon had enough information to start the Mynah Bird Home Page. Rick and Kathy want to make others aware that the dream of owning a mynah bird may be possible for others too. Though never claiming to be experts on mynahs, as new things are discovered, they continue to share what they find on the care of mynahs, ways to locate them, and share stories that owners have to tell about their birds. This web site has grown into more than was expected. Rick and Kathy hope that mynah enthusiasts will continue to find the Mynah Bird Home Page useful and enjoyable. Mynah
